Roblox is a widely popular gaming platform for kids. Previously, investigations found that criminals are using Roblox to target children. To enhance safety measures, the corporation has announced more parent control activities.
Stephen Balkam, CEO of FOSI, said, “FOSI applauds Roblox’s ongoing efforts to prioritize the safety and well-being of its youngest users. By empowering parents with new controls that allow them to oversee their child’s activity in a flexible, meaningful way, Roblox is taking significant steps toward building a safer digital environment.”
Additionally, Roblox provides parents control that allows them to view and control their child’s activity without being physically available. Now, parents can link their Roblox account with their children and control their friends list, limit screen time, and manage their children’s experiences.
Besides, Roblox can restrict users under the age of 13 from directly messaging others on Roblox. Under 13 children are not allowed to public broadcast messages within games only. Parents can adjust settings in the Parents Controls option.
Roblox stated in a press release, “These changes were developed and implemented after multiple rounds of internal research, including interviews, usability studies, and international surveys with parents and kids, and consultation with experts from child safety and media literacy organizations.”
Interestingly, the gaming platform will have new features for content maturity limits. Roblox offers label experiences based on the content replacing ages including “Minimal, Mild, Moderate, Restricted.” It will help parents control and adjust according to their preferences.
However, Roblox is committed to prioritizing the online safety of children. The team is continuously updating its policies and systems to enhance the gaming experience with potential risk prevention.
