Social media platforms are no doubt found installed on every kid’s smartphone. However, most parents are unaware of the negative impact they can have on their children and what kind of online threats the young ones may encounter.

Mark Zuckerberg and other tech leaders have shown their concern about this and decided to introduce parental controls on Facebook, Instagram, and other social sites. The fact that predators can even target children through Facebook classifieds let alone the DMs, proves the need for enhancing account security seems like a legitimate option. Hence, some apps like TikTok have added an inbuilt option, and some allow the users to make relevant changes to Settings to increase privacy.

Still, one common query is, was parental control real? The answer is yes, you can always find options like:

  • Making the account private
  • Restricting mature content
  • Monitoring
  • Screen Limits
  • Family Sharing
  • Limiting Friend Requests
  • Comment Restrictions
  • Direct Message Filters

…..and a lot more that are worth considering for all major social media apps. So, if your child is also active on any social media platform, be it FB, Insta, Snap, TikTok, WhatsApp, or anything else, you must think about setting up parental controls.
